Dept. puts up signage at The Mc Dougall's Bay Islands  in Port- Nolloth

The signage is put-up to create awareness on the Endangered Cormorant Breeding pairs along the Northern Cape coast.

These Islands are important breeding sites for 4 Cormorant (Duiker) bird species namely;

1. Cape Cormorant (Trekduiker)
2. Bank Cormorant (Bankduiker)
3. Crowned Cormorant (Kuifkopduiker)
4. White-Breasted Cormorant (Witborsduiker).

The decrease in breeding has been caused mainly by fish shortages and disturbances at nesting sites.
