As part of the International Mandela Day on Monday, 18 July 2022, the Department's veterinary team, led by MEC Mase Manopole, will embark on a vaccination drive in Mataleng and De Beershoogte suburbs in Barkley West. The community is urged to bring their cats and dogs for vaccination.

Starting early with their Mandela Day preparations, staff from the Department are in Barkly West today checking in on the homes they will be supporting and establishing food gardens.
This year the focus is on highlighting the plight of food security and climate change under the theme "Do what you can, with what you have, where you are."
MEC Mase Manopole and the team from the Department will be joining in on Monday 18 July 2022 to assist in completing the remaining tasks.
The Department of Agriculture, Environmental Affairs, Rural Development and Land Reform's Biodiversity Stewardship Unit, Research and Development Units in conjunction with various stakeholders such as the Northern Cape Protected Area Expansion Review Committee, the Kolomela Mine, World Wildlife Fund South Africa (WWFSA) and Wilderness Fondation Africa (WFA) converged in Kimberley for the bi-annual Committee Meeting.

The Northern Cape MEC for Agriculture, Environmental Affairs, Rural Development and Land Reform MEC, Mme Mase Manopole, is calling on the public and land users to be on high alert for veld fires during this fire season.
This comes after a preparatory meeting was held with all role player in order to increase the readiness of the Province, in response to the veldfires season.
