The Department of Agriculture, Environmental Affairs, Rural Development and Land Reform is expected to induct and orientate about 62 Assistant Agricultural Practitioners (AAPs) in Upington on the 09th February.

JOINT STATEMENT OF MINISTER NXESI AND MEC MANOPOLE ON THEIR VISIT TO NORTHERN CAPE FARMS AFTER THE DEATH OF FARM WORKERS IN KAKAMAS
The Minister of Employment and Labour Thulas Nxesi has warned farmers in the Northern Cape that food security will be affected if preservation of the livelihood of farmworkers is not prioritised. On Monday, 23 January 2023, the Minister together with the Northern Cape MEC for Agriculture, Environmental Affairs, Rural Development and Land Reform Mase Manopole, visited three farms (Groenheuwel, Loveren and Tierkop) in Kakamas, in the Northern Cape, where eight (8) farmworkers passed on, from what is suspected to be a heatstroke.

MEC Manopole sends message of condolences to families of seven farmworkers who passed-on in Kakamas.
MEC for Agriculture, Environmental Affairs, Rural development and Land Reform, Mme Mase Manopole, sends a message of condolences to the families of farmworkers who passed on due to what is suspected to be a heat stroke.
About seven farm workers passed-on (five passed-on yesterday and two this morning) and one farm worker is on a ventilator at the Kakamas Hospital.

The Northern Cape MEC for Agriculture, Environmental Affairs, Rural Development and Land Reform, Ms. Mase Manopole has assured farmers in the Province that there is enough vaccine for animals to quell the spread of any animal disease outbreak.
